Project Overview
The Client At the 2020 British GT Championship’s Silverstone 500 event, the 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button joined Jenson Team Rocket RJN co-owner Chris Buncombe behind the wheel of a McLaren 720S GT3 for his debut GT3 appearance. After the announcement there was huge media interest in Jenson’s involvement in the event. Naturally, the team wanted to capitalise on this and produce a range of merchandise – that’s where OMACDesign came in.
The Project OMACDesign received the following brief:
“The team want to add a unique poster to our merchandise offering for fans, celebrating Jenson’s return to racing. We want the poster to feature both GT3 cars’ liveries and for you to provide it as a high quality print that is shipped direct to customer.”
Liaising with RJN we designed, produced and supplied an officially licensed run of posters to this specification. The poster featured both of the cars raced at the British GT Championship’s blue riband race – we used a variety of reference photos to faithfully recreate the race spec cars. Each car had a unique livery that was breathtakingly captured in the illustration.
All elements of the illustration were created in Adobe illustrator in vector format to allow for the highest possible quality. It remains one of our most detailed projects to date, with carbon fibre effects throughout, detailed brake calipers, and the recreation of various sponsor logos.
We produced the finished posters as high quality giclee prints and shipped them as they were sold through the team’s official store channels. They were a hit with fans all around the world.
